OUR HISTORY
In 1949, recognizing the need of our senior community for an enhanced quality of life, National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Winnipeg Section, established the first drop-in senior centre in Canada, the Golden Age Club. The North End drop-in centre operated first from the Hebrew Sick Benefit Hall, then its own facility at 410 Pritchard Avenue, before eventually finding a permanent home at 1588 Main Street.

In 1988, the Golden Age Club became the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre, in tribute of Gwen Secter, a prominent community
organizer and vital member of both the National Council and Golden Age Club. For over 30 years GSCLC has operated from 1588 Main Street, promoting the well being of older adults and their participation in community life.
